Package!!!
10.14.09 (11:13 am)   [edit]

I came home from work yesterday and I had a package waiting from my Secret Pal.  I was so excited.  (So was my baby Niko!)  I still don't have a new camera so no pics but I received some great gifts!

I got this great mug that has a cable knitted design on it.  It is the cutest mug!  I received cookies from Trader Joe's.  A project planner pad and 4 shawl patterns.  A BEAUTIFUL skein of Hand Maiden Mini Maiden  yarn in Nova Scotia (BEAUTIFUL)  I absolutely love it!!!!

My baby got some gifts as well.... a fleece dog toy and some rawhide nuggets.  I have to tell you he was so funny - I gave him one of the rawhide nuggets and he kept rolling his body all over it!  It was the funniest thing.

My Secret Pal is Vicki and you can check her out at http://kozykitty.blogspot6.com

Thank you so much Vicki!!!!  I was well spoiled by you as was Niko!

Secret Pal
09.15.09 (2:07 pm)   [edit]

I want to take this opportunity to thank my Secret Pal for the wonderful box of goodies that I received in the mail the other day.  I apologize for not posting sooner about this.  My life has been a little crazy lately.  I wanted to take some pics as well, but I discovered I need a new camera.

Anyway, in the box were goodies for me and my puppy!  He was very excited about his box of cookies!  Niko thanks his mommy's secret pal.  I also received some candy and mints and a note pad.  lovely cascade yarn to make a bag - and to learn intarsia.  And last but not least a little box to make doggie toys for my baby!

Again, thank you so much Secret Pal.  I'm sorry I didn't respond sooner and no pics at the moment.

New Knitting and Stuff
08.13.09 (1:37 pm)   [edit]

My spoilee received her package and she likes it.  I am very happy about that.  When you gift yarn it's never easy.  You hope the person will like it, but you're not sure. (Although when you are a knitter, any yarn is a great gift).

I am knitting a clapotis.  When I knit my first one, I vowed never to knit another...don't know why, but I just did.  Now I am on my third one.  It's coming out very nice and the colors are beautiful.  All pinks/oranges....

Secret Pal Strikes!!!
07.27.09 (8:17 pm)   [edit]
So I came home from work and checked my e-mail and I received a gift card to KnitPicks from my Secret Pal.  That was such a nice surprise!  I immediately ordered two books from there that I have been longing for.  Thank you so much Secret Pal!!!!!!!!

Back from Vacation
07.25.09 (10:02 pm)   [edit]
So I just got back from a week at the beach and I had a great time.  I am sad to see it end.  I ate and drank and played cards but did not knit.  Not that I didn't bring any knitting.  I brought alot of it - I just didn't do any.  Can you believe it????  A whole week of free knitting time and not one stitch!

I was just catching up on e-mails and reading blogs and I came across Yarn Harlot's most recent post.  You all should check it out.  There is one very disturbed blogger who is harassing the Yarn Harlot.  Not sure why, because everyone should be proud of the country they come from.

Job Prospects
06.28.09 (12:03 pm)   [edit]
So, I have a job prospect.  It's back in the Financial Industry.  Right now they are going to hire me for a 2 week gig. Kind of a trial period, and then we will take it from there.

I really haven't been doing any knitting.  I was every day while I was bed ridden for my ankle, but now - nothing.  I can't decide what I want to knit.  Any suggestions?

It's Been A While
06.16.09 (8:32 am)   [edit]

Sorry it's been so long since I have posted.  Unemployment is still there.  It's been very difficult to find a job.  I had ankle surgery like I did 2 years ago.  I had that last week.  I'll be in the boot until the first week in July at least.

I have been knitting though.  Being unemployed gives you LOTS of free knitting time.  I also joined Secret Pal 14.

More later.....

Life Sucks
02.17.09 (2:53 pm)   [edit]
So I am officially unemployed.  I was told on Thursday that I no longer have a job after 15 years.  I am depressed.  I will get a severence (I am lucky) and I can collect unemployment, but no job.  And the unemployment rate is so high.  Apparently in RI  Unemployment is 6 - 8 weeks behind in filing for people.

I have been knitting though.  I am in the process of knitting an afghan for the Special Olympics RI Fashion Show that is being held on March 25th at Twin River in RI.  I am the co-chair of the event and have been for 5 years.

More Later.....

SP Package
01.30.09 (12:39 pm)   [edit]

I received another package in the mail from my secret pal.  I don't have pictures yet, but I will.  I received more gummi bears.  Yummmmmm!!!  Also, note cards.  The best was a ton of yarn to make February Lady out of.  I can't wait to start that!  It is in my favorite color, light blue.  Thank you so much Secret Pal!

I haven't been blogging lately because I have been sick.  Since the new year I have had ear infections, colds, sinus infections, flu, etc... I have been to the Dr. every week so far.  If I hadn't been feeling so crappy I would have had lots of time to knit.

I only made one pair of socks that I gave to a friend who loves them.  Although her 5 year old daughter told her that she couldn't wear them until I made her a pair.  I guess I have to work some mojo to get her socks knit up quick!

New Year, New Me
01.03.09 (6:26 pm)   [edit]

Happy New Year to one and all!  I hope everyone has a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!  Sorry I haven't posted in a while, but with the Holidays and Year-end at work....it was a little crazy.  This year I have vowed to do certain things:

1.  Lose weight, a lot of weight, in small doses.  I actually got on a scale and cried my eyes out.
2.  Eat healthier and exercise more.
3.  Knit more, learn to knit faire isle, is the one thing I really want to do.

On a different note, I receive a couple of packages.  One was the Grand Prize from the Scavenger Hunt.  I received a big box stuffed with some great things.  I couldn't believe all the stuff I got. I get to try to dye my own yarn.  That is the coolest.  I received dark chocolate cocoa, DPNs size 3, note pads and books.  Thank you so much to the Secret Pal Hostesses!

Then I received a package from my Secret Pal.  In addition to some gummi bears (yummmmm) and coffee I received the following:

My secret pal hand dyed this 100% merino wool lace yarn and she sent me a Snowflake Lace Sock pattern.  I can't wait to start that!  Thank you so much Secret Pal!

More later my friends

Question #2
12.17.08 (7:04 pm)   [edit]
Question #2 was:  Are you doing any Holiday knitting and if so are you finished?

I have to be totally honest with you.  I do not do any Holiday knitting.  I think that it puts too much pressure on me and I just want to knit for the fun of it.  I think that people who do Holiday knitting are wonderful, but I cannot do that to myself.  So my answer would be No and No.

I cannot believe that Christmas is one week away!

I just found out that I won the Secret Pal 13 Scavenger Hunt Grand Prize.  I am so excited!  I can't wait to see what is in my package.

I must tell you that my hostess Nicol, is THE best hostess!  I am sure that the other hostesses are just as good as mine, but I think Nicol is THE best!

Question #1
12.03.08 (12:39 pm)   [edit]

Question #1

What are you most thankful for?

I am most thankful for my family and friends, a home to live in and my job.  I don't think I can expand any on that.

I haven't been knitting much lately.  I have been kind of depressed.  Not sure why.  It's a funk that I cannot get out of.  Someone asked me how long it has been since I quit smoking and you know what....I couldn't answer them!  I guess that's a good thing.  I think it's about 4 months though.

I have been reading these books called Sweet Potato Queens.  OMG  these are the funniest books that I have ever read.  I mean laugh out loud while reading books.  I suggest if you are looking for a good read these are the books.  The author is Jill Conner Browne.

That's all for now.

SP 13
11.09.08 (7:51 pm)   [edit]

I am really excited about starting SP 13.  I have done 10 of these and only had one bad experience.  I think it is great and I can't wait to begin!

I have been working on a scarf from Louisa Harding's The Accessories Collection.  It is called The Frill Scarf.  I haven't finished it yet as you can see.    But I am going to finish it soon.  There are so many things that I want to start knitting, but I don't know where to begin.

I have been feeling a little depressed lately.  Not sure why.

SP12 Box
09.17.08 (8:14 pm)   [edit]

I got home from work today and surprise surprise I had received a box from my Secret Pal.  I was so excited I ripped into the box.  I took pictures and hopefully I get them downloaded onto here.  Lets see if it works.

This is a doily with a copper and red rose and a dog.  The rose is a birthday gift because my birthday is October 8th and my spoiler's birthday is October 6th.
This is 4 skeins of yarn that I received.  All are Merino wool.  I love all and I can't wait to look through my patterns to decide what to make with them.

This is hand spun cotton and bamboo yarn.  Isn't it beautiful.

This is Panda Cotton.  I love the colors.
And last but not least here is some BFL roving.  I can't wait to try to spin it up.

Thank you so much my Secret Pal.  I cannot wait to find out who you are!

I also have pics of the puppy.  He is 5 months and 3 1/2 lbs.  Isn't he the cutest?

Oh and by the way, I haven't had any cigs in over 1 month!!!!!

Not Much Going On
08.15.08 (7:52 pm)   [edit]

So  not much has been going on.  I have to be honest I have  not been knitting at all.  I found out from the doctor that I have the start of enphysema.  I have not had a cigarette in 24 hours.  I will never pick up another cigarette again.

That's my story in a nutshell.  I have been a little depressed and have not been knitting at all.

On Vacation
07.30.08 (2:48 pm)   [edit]

So last week I was on vacation.  I brought a big bag of knitting.  Socks, Clapotis, everything I needed.  You know what?  I did not knit one stitch!  Not One!  I didn't even open the knitting bag.  I don't know what came over me.  I had all this time to knit and I didn't even open the bag.  What kind of vacation at a beach house is that I ask you?  I still haven't knit anything.  I am going to work more on my socks tonight.  That is a promise I am making to myself.  I will let you know if I keep it.

Update:

 9:36 a.m. 7/31/08

Due to unforeseen circumstances, I did not knit at all last night!

Answers To Questions

Some more answers....

Where is your favorite place to go for vacation/holiday?  I do not have a favorite place.  Every summer we get a beach house and hang there for the week, eating and drinking.

Where is one place you'd like to go?  I have been to Mexico, Jamaica, Hawaii, Switzerland, Italy, France, Spain....I think Greece is where I would like to go next.

Next week I will not be near a computer for the whole week.  I'll be on vacation and I do NOT take my computer with me at all.  I will be taking lots of knitting though!

Misc. Stuff

Answers to some questions:

What yarn would make your stash complete?  I'm not sure, there are so many that I cannot thing of just one.

What yarn do you never want to be without?  Malebrego - in any color.....

Niko (my soon to be 3 month old puppy) is doing great.  He is 1 lb 15 ozs and is becoming a handful!  The vet says he will be losing his baby teeth very soon and then he will start the actual teething process!  I will post pics (maybe tonight).

Kara (my soon to be 3 month old cousin) is doing great as well.  She's alot bigger than Niko!  :)  She is such a Diva even at 3 months!

Knitting is going good.  The Clapotis is coming along.  Going camping this weekend to New Hampshire.  If anyone knows of a good yarn store in Derry, NH - let me know!  Later.

Stash
06.25.08 (1:10 pm)   [edit]
This week's question posted by our SP 12 Hostesses was "What would you consider the PERFECT amount of stash?"

How can anyone really answer that question?  I don't think there is ever enough stash.  I see yarn all the time that I would love to add to my stash.

On the knitting front, my friend loved the baby blanket I knit for her son.  I was thrilled about that!  I also started another clapotis (my 2nd) with Socks that Rock yarn.  I will post pics soon.  I believe that this one I will keep for myself.  Later guys!

Sorry - I am behind in answering my Questions of the Week 1 & 2.  So here goes.....

#2 - As a kid what did you look forward to about summer vacation? -- Sleeping late, playing with friends all day.

I finally finished the baby blanket, but as I have a summer cold/cough and the baby was born last week, I cannot bring it to her yet.... Hopefully soon.
